The tenth trial of the late Yuriko Kimura’s case seeking compensation from the Local Government Employees’ Accident Compensation Fund was held at the Shizuoka Local Court (Civil Affairs Second Department, Presiding Judge Tsutomu Yamaguchi) on June 24. More than 30 supporters attended the trial as observers. Kimura was newly hired as a teacher at an elementary school in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture in April 2004 and committed suicide in September the same year. Causes for her suicide were difficulties in managing her class, lack of support from the management to new teachers and power-harassment which aggravated the dire situation.
